Police said on Monday that samples of juvenile were replaced on instructions of Dr Taware and Dr Halnor of Sassoon Hospital.
The blood sample of the accused teen in the Pune Porsche accident case was thrown into dustbin and was replaced with another person's sample, police said on Monday, adding that the samples of juvenile were replaced on instructions of Dr Taware and Dr Harnor of Sassoon Hospital.
The Juvenile's father had called Dr Taware to replace blood samples, said Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
The road mishap that took place at Kalyani Nagar area of the city in the early hours of Sunday, May 19, caused the death two bike-borne IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
The teen, son of a renowned Pune-based real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, is accused of being behind the wheels of the Porsche in a "drunk" state at the time of the accident, a charge the father-son duo and the family has attempted to put on their driver's head to walk free. A court on Monday allowed police to take custody of teen's father in case of kidnapping and wrongful confinement of their driver.
The teen was reportedly driving the Porsche Taycan from a pub after celebrating his exam results and is said to have been caught on camera as well consuming alcohol at the pub, whose owner was arrested by the police in its probe in the accident case.
The father of the 17-year-old is under arrest while the teen is also in observation home till June 5 after his bail, which he got within hours of the crash, was cancelled amid outrage.
In a major revelation, police said on Monday that the juvenile's blood samples were replaced and the Sassoon Hospital's report showed no alcohol traces. Probe is underway to find out whose blood samples were collected and replaced with juvenile samples, said police.
The Pune police have arrested Dr Ajay Taware and Shrihari Harnor for the alleged manipulation of blood samples and destruction of evidence. One of them is the head of the forensic department of the hospital, police said. Pune Police also arrested one person for alleged links with two arrested Sassoon Hospital doctors who manipulated blood samples.
Pune police on Saturday arrested the grandfather of the 17-year-old involved in the case while claiming that both the teenager's father and grandfather put pressure on the family's driver to take blame for the accident by offering him money and giving threats.
The teenager's grandfather, Surendra Agarwal was arrested for `illegal confinement' of the driver, and a court subsequently remanded him in police custody till May 28. The minor's father, in judicial custody in another case registered in connection with the May 19 accident, too was named in the First Information Report.
