Former Uttarakhand CM Accuses AIMIM Leader Of Inciting Communal Tension Through Tweets

The controversy arose when Owaisi demanded a ban on the proposed 'maha panchayat' in Purola, a region already plagued by communal tensions, prompting Rawat to call for responsible speech and highlight the exemplary conduct of Hindu religious leaders in maintaining harmony.

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat, has leveled accusations against AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, alleging that his tweets have been inciting communal tension in the hill state. Rawat emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and vowed not to allow disruptions or a deteriorating atmosphere.

The controversy erupted when Owaisi demanded a ban on the proposed 'maha panchayat' in Purola, a region already grappling with communal tensions. Rawat, in response, advised religious leaders to impart good values in madrassas to ensure communal harmony prevails. He further highlighted the exemplary conduct of Hindu religious leaders, noting their restraint in provoking misguided actions among the youth.

Rawat also addressed the state government's ongoing crackdown on "love and land jihad," asserting that India is governed by the Constitution, and actions against land encroachment or forced conversions have legal backing. Accusing Owaisi of posting provocative tweets, Rawat firmly stated that the AIMIM leader's attempts to stir up trouble in Uttarakhand would be unsuccessful.

Referring to the recent developments in Purola, Rawat urged Owaisi to comprehend the sentiments prevailing in the area. Trade bodies and Hindutva organizations had initially called for a 'maha panchayat' to protest against alleged incidents of "love jihad," a term often used to claim a conspiracy by Muslim men to induce religious conversion among Hindu women through marriage. However, the call for the 'maha panchayat' was later withdrawn.

Rawat concluded by cautioning Owaisi against adopting a threatening tone and urged him to speak responsibly. He emphasized that Uttarakhand has always stood firm against threats and warned that Owaisi would only be permitted in the state when deemed appropriate by the authorities.
